Professional Reflection and Growth
NASPE Standard #8 -- The teacher is a reflective practitioner who evaluates the effect of his/her actions on others (e.g., learners, parents/guardians, and other professionals in the learning community) and seeks opportunities to grow professionally. This standard can be met through a series of learning experiences that promote self-reflection on the part of preservice teachers. Problem solving strategies, self-analysis of lessons, and evaluation of program designs could be included in this standard. In addition, preservice teachers should demonstrate a commitment to professional service by involvement in local, state, district, and national organizations.
